Job Summary

Organizes, documents and controls company, government and customer owned tooling assets. Reviews tooling adequacy via visual inspection against BOM’s and ensures details (pins, saddles etc.) are with tooling when issued and returned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the maintenance and control of Item Master records for all production related tooling. Insure database elements are properly defined as needed to support MRP processing and configuration management controls.
  • Assists in the monitoring and control of the tooling shop order database to insure priorities and due dates are properly established.  Generate various MRP exception based reports as needed to assist in this effort.
  • Review company, customer or government tool inventory listings against company records and coordinate updates as required to insure all data records are properly and accurately defined and all concerned parties are in agreement.
  • Prepare and participate in physical inventories as dictated by company, customer and/or governmental agency regulations.  Respond and effectively resolve discrepancies as needed to satisfy all parties. 
  • Accurately prepare the appropriate documentation and coordinate the shipping of customer or government owned tooling when requested to do so.
  • Review, witness and coordinate the receipts of all customer or government furnished tooling. Assign tool item numbers as needed and coordinate efforts to move items to an appropriate warehouse stocking location.  
  • Act on company’s behalf to perform “Govt. Witness” duties when called upon.  
  • Assign and maintain Certified Tool Lists (CTLs) utilizing various system tools and reports available.  Organize, file and control all documentation related thereto.  Follow order activities through completion and advise when ready to invoice. 
  • Assist shop and/or warehouse personnel in locating tools or processing system updates when called upon to do so.
  • Notify interfacing departments to effect corrections to system data values that have resulted in invalid outputs, particularly those affecting shop load and scheduling. 
  • Comply with prescribed operating practices including those associated with QCI, MEP and SOP processes and procedures. 
  • Participate in production meetings, conferences, seminars and presentations as directed by department supervision. 
  • Demonstrate an earnest commitment to the company’s objectives for Delivery, Quality, 6S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other cost reduction initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate minimum
  • Professional related seminars, symposiums or accredited courses associated with warehouse, property and/or asset management
  • Previous work related experience in Asset Management, Production and/or Inventory Control
  • 3 years working background within a manufacturing type environment, specifically where tool & die design and manufacturing processes are involved or similar experience.
  • 2 years of experience with an online computerized MRP or equivalent scheduling system.

  • Sound analytical and decision making skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision         
  • Basic experience with computerized systems – BPCS or equivalent MRP II software, and job related Microsoft Applications
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings or blue prints
  • Some knowledge, exposure to various types of manufacturing processes and controls including machinery and equipment capabilities
  • Able to problem solve and multi-task
  • Must have excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
